Car insurance premiums have risen sharply in the past year. During the year, the average premium increased by almost 8 percent.
Car owners now pay an average of 849.96 euros per year. At the beginning of the year that was still 792 euros. This is evident from research by comparison site Autoverzekering.nl.
Public liability insurance (WA) in particular rose sharply: by 9.8 percent. All-risk premiums increased by an average of 7.5 percent.
The higher premiums are largely a result of inflation. More expensive car parts and higher personnel costs also affect premiums.
In addition, more and more cars are being stolen, according to data from the National Intelligence and Expertise Center for Vehicle Crime. This also contributes to the increase in premiums.
It is not the first time that we pay more for car insurance. According to Autoverzekering.nl, premiums have been rising for years.
