A car fire caused quite a lot of (smoke) damage in downtown Grave Sunday night after the fire spread to a home. A few things have happened on the Oliestraat. According to a 112 correspondent, five residents of the house where the smoke entered were checked by paramedics as a precaution. They had inhaled smoke.
As far as is known, none of the residents had to be hospitalized. Police suspect arson. A resident of the residential complex heard the fire alarm go off, then opened the door and was shocked to see smoke in the corridor. Flames from the car fire hit the windows of the house outside. Together with his girlfriend, he manages to leave the building safe and sound.
The report of the car fire reached the fire brigade late Sunday evening, just before half past midnight. By the time the fire brigade reached the Oliestraat, the fire had already spread to the house. The windows of a second home also collapsed due to the heat from the fire. Also damage to a car parked on the street.

The house in which the fire has spread is divided into several rooms which are rented out, according to a correspondent of 112. The car which was set on fire is completely burned out.
The investigation into the arson is still ongoing on Monday. The police are looking for witnesses.
