The expert called a misunderstanding dangerous when repairing a car
For example, for installing spark plugs, there are two types of lubricant: dielectric and non-stick – from gluing a threaded connection. Both motorists are often overlooked. Thus, the expert from the publication “Behind the wheel” defined the connections in the power unit of the car that need to be lubricated.
Exhaust gaskets
Exhaust system gaskets with fully serviceable mating surfaces usually do not need lubrication, and special ceramic pastes are used if the joint needs to be sealed. If we talk about the fasteners of the exhaust system, then only cheap copper grease is enough. And only for lambda probes does it make sense to use a more expensive lubricant – ceramic, writes the newspaper. “Behind the Wheel”.
Ignition coils
The tips of the ignition coils often grip the spark plug insulators very tightly, which makes it difficult to remove the coils and can also lead to the tips breaking. Therefore, it makes sense to apply lubricant when installing new spark plugs. It is necessary to apply it very little and so that it does not get to the point where the tip of the spark plug contacts the ignition coil contact. It is best to use a special dielectric silicone grease, but also a small amount of the simplest silicone grease, experts advise.
Nozzles and glow plugs
There are special non-stick lubricants for installing nozzles and glow plugs in the cylinder head of diesel engines. There is no need to save on them and there is no alternative to them. It should be remembered that unsuccessful dismantling of these nodes sometimes leads to the need to remove the warhead.
Candle
Non-stick lubricant should be applied directly to the spark plug threads. Its use ensures the ease of extinguishing the candle after prolonged use, and also protects the wire itself from corrosion.
