Blankenburg / Quedlinburg / MZ – A 47-year-old who caused an accident near Blankenburg on Christmas Eve was under the influence of alcohol. As the police announced on Christmas Day, the man drove his car on federal road 27 coming from the A 36 in the direction of Blankenburg. At around 3:08 p.m., the car collided with a warning sign at the junction with Landesstraße 85 for a previously unknown cause and then drove into the field. The driver left the scene of the accident.
Police officers were able to determine the car as part of the search measures at the entrance to Quedlinburg. When the driver was checked, a breath alcohol test carried out showed a value of 0.6 per thousand, whereupon a blood sample was taken.
The officials initiated a preliminary investigation into traffic hazard.
