Train traffic between Herentals and Lier was interrupted for hours on Saturday afternoon after an accident on the Binnenheide level crossing in Bouwel (Grobbendonk). A car was caught by a train that was on its way from Antwerp to Turnhout. The car was dragged over 100 meters. Any help was too late for the driver of the car. About 80 passengers were on the train. The NMBS used buses to bring train travelers to Herentals station.
