Each year, the Car Design Award jury reveals the most beautiful cars of the year in the Best Car Design category. The competition started back in 1984 and its main organizer was the authoritative Italian magazine Auto&Design. It rewarded the most attractive cars, and since 2016 has divided them into three categories – “Concept Cars”, “Stock Cars” and “Overall Brand Design”.
On the eve of the awarding of this year’s winners took place in Milan. The ceremony took place at the famous ADI Design Museum.
In the category of concept cars, the Korean brand Genesis and its X Convertible prototype unexpectedly took the first place. Last year, the Toyota Compact Cruiser EV took the lead in this category.
In the nomination “Production car with the best design”, Ferrari pulled out the victory with its first ever crossover – Purosangue. Silver was reserved for Toyota Prius, and bronze was reserved by Jeep’s debut electric crossover, called Avenger.
The award for the overall design of the brand also went to the Italians, who managed to get ahead of Kia and Hyundai in the fight for it. As a result, these two Korean brands took second and third places in this nomination, respectively.
In 2022, we recall that the victory in the category “General brand design” was awarded to the Swedish company Polestar.
