On Thursday evening at the Bergsebaan level crossing in Heerle, a car crashed into a railway barrier that was going down. According to the police, no one was injured. A train was approaching, but it was able to brake in time.
Due to the accident, train traffic between Roosendaal, Bergen op Zoom and Vlissingen in Zeeland was at a standstill until about nine o’clock on Thursday evening. This was reported by a spokesperson for the Dutch Railways (NS).
According to eyewitnesses, the car was turning at the level crossing when the train arrived. Then the railway barriers closed and the driver drove into one of the trees that went down. Police report that part of the car has been damaged. The collision happened around half past six.
The NS has deployed some buses to temporarily transport people between West Brabant and Zeeland.
