A car has been broken into during a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin. More than 20 people were injured and several people were killed, according to police. It is not yet clear how many victims are involved. A suspect has been arrested.
According to local authorities, 11 adults and 12 children have been taken to hospital. It is not clear how they are doing. Police say the vehicle hit at least 20 people.
Footage shows a red SUV entering the parade from behind and driving over at least ten people. A witness reports to American media that the car hit, among other things, a dance group of girls between nine and fifteen years old. An officer fired at the vehicle.
The motive is not yet clear. There would be no further threat. A “suspicious vehicle” has also been secured, according to the police.
