On Friday evening there was a spectacular accident in the middle of downtown Graz: in Murgasse, a car crashed into the middle of a shop display.

At around 7:30 p.m., a 79-year-old lost control of his vehicle during a reversing maneuver in Murgasse – in the immediate vicinity of the main square – touched a parked car and finally drove head-on into the window of the “Blue Tomato” shop. The display was destroyed, and there was also further damage to inventory and furniture.

Alcohol test was negative

Nobody was harmed during the accident; an alcohol test carried out on the 79-year-old from Graz was negative.

Due to the accident and the clean-up work, tram operations through Murgasse were interrupted for some time in the evening. It is not yet known why the man from Graz lost control of his car.
