Car company, electric bike 10 people joined the EV measures

The Excise Department has added Thai Honda Co., Ltd. to its portfolio of measures to support the use of electric vehicles, for a total of the last 10 cases, divided into 7 industrial operators and importers of cars and 3 motorcycles.

Dr. Ekaniti Nitithanpraphas The Director General of the Excise Department revealed that today (25 October 65) the Excise Department has signed an agreement on measures to support the use of electric vehicles between the Excise Department and another motorcycle operator , Thai Honda Company Limited, the manufacturer .and sells Honda-branded motorcycles which will be entitled to excise privileges at a rate of 1% and a subsidy of 18,000 baht per vehicle for the import of a battery electric motor vehicle ( BEV) in the years 2022 – 2023 and the production of a BEV motorcycle in the years 2022 – 2025.

Motorcycle BEV participating in the measure Must have the following qualifications:
1. It must be a lithium ion type battery.

2. It has a battery capacity of 3 KWh or more, or a range of 75 kilometers per charge, according to the Class 1 WMTC (World Motorcycle Test Cycle) standard or higher.

3. Must use tires that meet industry standards. Standard no. TIS 2720-2560 (UN Reg.75) or higher (UN Reg.75)

4. Must pass electric motorcycle safety test according to industrial product standard no. TIS 2952-2561 (UN Reg. 136) or higher.

In this regard, Thai Honda Company intends to produce BEV motorcycles in the country and has applied for a model, namely the BENLY model and, in the next 6 months. Initially, around 200 vehicles were expected to be produced.


Currently there are 10 industrial operators and importers who have signed an agreement with the Department of Excise, including 7 industrial operators and importers of cars and 3 motorcycles, it is expected that there will be reservations and sales of electric cars and motorcycles that have requested the right under the provision by the end of 2022, for a total of over 25,000 vehicles, and soon there will be more industrial operators / car importers interested in joining the signature. This will result in lower prices for BEV cars and motorcycles and incentives for consumers. use multiple electric vehicles

Dr. Ekniti said that this measure has a positive effect on the environment. Supporting the country’s goal of being Carbon Neutrality and Net Zero Emission, which is one of the main strategies that the Excise Department focuses and will seriously guide.
