Shortly before 8 p.m., road users of the Zurich cantonal police reported a car that was traveling from Bülach via Embrach in the direction of Pfungen with a flat tire. Shortly thereafter, the 55-year-old driver shot down another vehicle at an intersection that was just turning from Dättlikonerstrasse into Weiacherstrasse.
The 55-year-old and the passenger in the other vehicle sustained minor to moderate injuries in the collision. They were taken to hospitals by the Winterthur and Spital Bülach rescue services. The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.
The Pfungen-Dättlikon fire brigade had to close Weiacherstrasse in the area of the accident site and regulate traffic.
The cause of the accident and the reasons for the conspicuous driving behavior between Bülach and Pfungen are being investigated by the Zurich cantonal police and the Winterthur/Unterland public prosecutor’s office.
