Car caught between two avalanches in Tamokdalen in Troms – NRK Troms and Finnmark

The police inform NRK that it was a conscript soldier, who was on his way back to the military camp at Skjold, who was caught between two landslides in Troms.

He was imprisoned in the landslide area for approx. four hours, without the opportunity to get out.

Just before 5 pm, NRK is informed that the person in question has been taken out of the air ambulance. He has now been brought to safety in the military camp.

There was no damage to the vehicle or person.

The landslide has occurred on Fv 87 Balsfjord. The road is closed at Skau.

– There is one vehicle that is between two landslides. It has gone both in front and behind him while he has been driving, but he has not been taken off the avalanche, says operations manager in Troms police district Karl Erik Thomassen.

There have been several landslides at Fv 87 Balsfjord on Sunday.

The police had contact with the person while he was detained. They had an operations manager at Øvergård. And received assistance in the form of several tracked vehicles from the Armed Forces, as well as snowmobiles from the Red Cross.

Several roads in Troms are closed on Sunday due to landslides and avalanche danger.
