Double gold winner Johannes Høsflot Klæbo (25) continues with his extreme corona regime even after the Olympics. It’s about securing the World Cup winner.
To manage this, he must, among other things:
- Be driven by car by his father Haakon from Gardermoen to Trondheim on Monday – to avoid scheduled flights.
- Get picked up by private plane by Finnish organizers for a show race in Helsinki this week – and then go straight to Lahti by car. Again to avoid scheduled flights.
- Dad’s private car will also be the means of transport to Drammen / Holmenkollen and Falun.
Klæbo now leads both the World Cup in total and the sprint cup clearly – when the races in Lahti, Drammen, Oslo, Falun and Tyumen remain.
– To reduce the probability of infection, I drive from Skeikampen to Gardermoen to pick up Johannes – and he drives on to Trondheim tonight. We are probably not in Trondheim until around midnight, but he avoids scheduled flights and lots of people, writes dad Haakon Klæbo to VG.
– The plan is further that Johannes will go to Lahti via Helsinki on Thursday morning. He will take part in a sprint during the Helsinki Ski Weeks at the Olympic Stadium in the Finnish capital. He will then be transported by car to Lahti, where the coming weekend is the World Cup. Johannes is picked up in a plane from the organizer of Helsinki Ski Weeks in Finland on Værnes Thursday. This is done not least for infection reasons.
– Johannes wants to prioritize infection control very highly also in the days and weeks ahead, so that he can complete the season’s world cup. As the risk of infection is far higher than before, he will in the days and weeks ahead also be very strict when it comes to infection control. In short, he wants to have contact with as few people as possible in the future, simply to avoid infection. In any case, he should try.
Klæbo senior states that Johannes will compete in both races in Lahti this weekend.
– Then it is the turn of the World Cup in Drammen and Holmenkollen. We plan to drive from Trondheim to the races in Oslo and Drammen. Later we also take a car to Sweden and Falun.
Klæbo ended up in quarantine during his stay in Italy after his coach, Arild Monsen, tested positive for corona. He went home to Norway by private plane, paid for by a sponsor, before leaving for the China Olympics.
