Car Accident in Buchs: Two Injured After Vehicle Plunges Down Embankment

On Saturday evening (September 23rd, 2023) an accident occurred in Buchs in which a car fell down an embankment.

At around 10:45 p.m. a car was driving on Regensbergstrasse towards Boppelsen. In a sharp right-hand bend, the vehicle, occupied by two people, went over the edge of the road on the left and fell down the embankment.

It crashed violently into a tree and came to rest on its side. The 20-year-old suspected driver of the vehicle and the 27-year-old passenger had to be rescued from the demolished vehicle by emergency services and first responders.

The two injured people were transported to a hospital in emergency vehicles.

The cause of the accident is currently unclear and is being investigated by the Zurich cantonal police and the public prosecutor’s office. The public prosecutor ordered blood and urine samples to be taken from both people. The accident vehicle was secured after recovery.

Together with the Zurich cantonal police, the Buchs-Dällikon and Dielsdorf fire brigades, the emergency services Spital Limmattal and Schutz & Rescue Zurich, a rescue helicopter from the Alpine Air Ambulance and the Winterthur/Unterland public prosecutor’s office were on duty.
