In the British district of Wimbledon, one person was killed and seventeen injured on Thursday after a car drove into a primary school. Among them are at least seven children.
Emergency services received a call around 10 a.m. At least twenty ambulances, a trauma helicopter and the fire brigade came to the scene to help the injured. The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known.
The driver of the car was a woman who had lost control of the wheel, write British media. This may be the result of a “medical treatment”. The police therefore do not assume a terrorist motive. No one has been arrested yet.
The incident took place at a girls’ school. The students are between four and eleven years old. Several victims were in the school building during the incident. The primary school is about a mile from where the famous Wimbledon tennis tournament is currently held.
