Captain Rohit Sharma Breaks Record with 50 Sixes in a Calendar Year in ODIs

Dharamshala: Captain Rohit Sharma became the first Indian player to hit 50 sixes in a calendar year in ODIs during the World Cup match against New Zealand. Rohit broke the record of 46 sixes in his own name in 2017. In the second over of the Indian innings, Kiwis star Matt Hen Ree was hit for a six and the Hitman made the score 50. He hit three more sixes in the match to take his tally to 53.

With this, Rohit is also likely to own the record of most sixes in one calendar year in ODIs. South Africa’s AB de Villiers tops the list with 58 sixes in one calendar year in ODIs in 2015. West Indies’ Chris Gayle, who hit 56 sixes in 2019, is second. Six more sixes will take the Hitman to the top spot.
