Between his unlimited powers inherited from the Tesseract and his knowledge of the galaxy, Captain Marvel was a big addition to the Avengers team. After all, she was the one who saved Tony and Nebula from their certain death in space, and who destroyed the main ship of Thanos’ army in the final battle. Unsurprisingly, Carol Danvers will have the right to a second opus whose release date is currently scheduled for 2022. A distant release, perhaps, but that does not prevent speculation of all kinds, and they are numerous. Crossover with Spider-Man, adaptation of comics in particular, introduction of Ms Marvel, A-Force training … And if Captain Marvel 2 become the next big MCU event?
Among the major events in the MCU, he obviously heard the Avengers films, but not only. The group of heroes also met in the third installment of Captain America entitled Captain America : Civil War. Besides, it was more like seeing an Avengers film and not really one focused on Steve Rogers, even if Bucky had a central role in it. This adaptation of Civil War especially had a key role in the MCU, and directly influenced the events and intrigue of Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame. If the rumors about Captain Marvel 2 prove to be true, the blockbuster could have a similar place in the universe of Marvel Studios.
The rumor which returns most often echoes an adaptation of Secret Invasion, a series of comic books in which the Skrulls transform into humans in order to invade Earth. This is how the Avengers, the X-Men and the Fantastic 4 team up to save the planet. The Skrulls’ transformation capacity was revealed at the end of Spider-Man Far From Home, when we found out that Nick Fury and Maria Hill were actually Skrulls. If this rumor turns out to be true, Captain Marvel 2 could therefore turn into a giant crossover, by bringing together not only Avengers that we already know, including Spider-Man for example, but also why not introduce a new hero. In particular characters who will have the right to their own Disney + series like Kamala Khan alias Ms Marvel.
You may already know, but the Avengers are far from the one and only team from Marvel Comics. The composition of the group has also changed over the years, as in the MCU. Yes Captain Marvel 2 is the crossover that many rumors promise, the blockbuster would lead to the creation of a new team: the A-Force. This is the very first team exclusively made up of Marvel superheroes, and an overview of which has already been given to us in Avengers Endgame. It is not the only new group that could emerge from the film, since other rumors also report the possible formation of the New Avengers in Captain Marvel 2.
So you understood, more than a simple suite anchored in the universe of Carol Danvers, Captain Marvel 2 has the opportunity to play a major role in the MCU. None of these rumors has yet been confirmed or denied by the studios. It is therefore only noises of corridors that must be taken with (large) tweezers.
