In 2016, Captain America: Civil War inaugurated Phase III of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Scarlett Johansson played the role of Natasha Romanoff for the fifth time. The movie also featured a legendary fight between Captain America and Black Widow. However, the sequence was never integrated into the editing. We try to see more clearly.
In Captain America: Civil War, released in theaters in the spring of 2016, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) takes on Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) over an ethical dilemma following the death of civilians caused by a failed mission of the Avengers. The superheroes split into two clans, some accepting to serve the government, while others refuse to compromise. It is on this thorny point that Captain America and Natasha Romanov / Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) oppose in particular. Steve Rogers refuses to be a puppet in the service of a government, unlike his comrade who sides with Tony Stark. Tensions within the Avengers eventually erupt to the point of causing a brawl at a German airport.
At the end of this internal quarrel, Black Widow ends up changing sides, thus passing from the side of Iron Man to that of Captain America. This beautiful outcome should normally have been preceded by a battle between Natasha Romanoff and Steve Rogers. The information comes to us from choreographer James Young, who has been working in the MCEU for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, released in 2014. On the Corridor Crew Youtube channel, the precious witness evokes the epic scene. A hundred scenarios would have been proposed to conceptualize a fight between two superheroes. The choice of James Young and his team will finally stop on Black Widow and Captain America.
Captain America vs. Black Widow
According to James Young, the legendary fight between Black Widow and Captain America was indeed filmed. The sequence would take place on the roof of the Leipzig/Halle airport. However, it was never integrated into the edit. Young offers no explanation. It remains to be seen why his team considered so many setups for the fight. In question, the incessant changes of decorations caused by the directors Anthony and Joe Russo. Seeing Black Widow and Captain America remains a fan’s dream. The chances are very slim of ever seeing it come to fruition following the death of Romanoff and the aging of Rogers. The Multiverse of Doctor Strange 2 may well reintroduce rejuvenated versions of characters. We can always dream, right?
