Captain America 4 is in development, with Falcon showrunner and the Winter Soldier

Malcom Spellman, showrunner of the series Marvel / Disney + Falcon and the Winter Soldier, will write the scenario of Captain America 4 with Falcon screenwriter Dalan Musson.

The Hollywood Reporter tells us that the creator of Falcon and the Winter Soldier will be designing the fourth Captain America movie for Marvel Studios. The previous films being Captain America: First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Captain America: Civil War.

No other details on the cast or the actors have been announced, nor even on the possible director. The last two Captain America films were directed by the Russo Brothers who went on to take care of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.

There is also no information on the script, nor a title.

In the meantime, here are spoilers on the Disney + miniseries which has just ended and which may give clues as to what we can hope for.

If we don’t know anything about the script, we learn with the end of Falcon and the Winter Soldier that there is a new Captain America in the MCU with the advent of Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie. There is still a lot to be clarified, with John Walker becoming US Agent and Sharon Carter becoming very ambivalent. Without counting the quite relative confinement of Baron Zémo.

Additionally, there is no indication that Chris Evans will return as Steve Rogers. Last time we saw him, Rogers was a retired old man having lived his best life by stepping back in time. Rogers hasn’t even been seen in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, although he’s mentioned often, with a legacy weighing heavily in the fates of many characters. No one will take the shield back from Sam Wilson’s hands now that they’ve accepted it.
