Hundreds of right-wing extremist supporters of US President Donald Trump stormed the Congress building in Washington DC on Wednesday.

Trump had previously called on his supporters to move to the Capitol. After the storm, Trump called the amateur coup plotters “great patriots”.

The scenes that played out in Parliament were chaotic. Videos from reporters show what was going on inside the Capitol when Trump’s supporters stormed the building.

Neo-Nazis, Holocaust deniers, supporters of the Q-Anon conspiracy movement: a right-wing mob of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in Washington DC on Wednesday. Earlier, in a speech to his supporters in the city, US President Donald Trump called for people to go to parliament (read our detailed summary of the events here).

Videos from journalists captured the moments in which the partly armed mob of right-wing Trump supporters gained access to parliament.

A video distributed via the Tiktok app shows how the right-wing mob simply overran the completely overwhelmed police in front of the building.
