Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan said that Jakarta is still the center of the economy and cultural center in Indonesia, even though the capital city of Indonesia isIKN) was moved to East Kalimantan as the new administrative center.
“IKN has become a law, it is clear that Jakarta will continue to be the center of the economy in Indonesia,” said Anies Baswedan while in Makassar, Saturday (22/1).
Even though the capital city is East Kalimantan, said Anies, Jakarta will become the center of activities for various things, including becoming the node of the Indonesian nation.
“Jakarta will still be the center of cultural activities and will be the node of the Indonesian nation, that’s still the case,” he explained.
Anies stated that Jakarta will continue to be built even though its status as an IKN is no longer assigned.
“The government has moved there, but Jakarta will remain. We will continue to build Jakarta. We will continue to work on the problems in Jakarta so that they can be resolved,” he said.
Previously, President Joko Widodo had announced an area in East Kalimantan Province to be the new state capital after Jakarta, and it had even been ratified by the DPR through the IKN Law.
