PRAIA, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) – Agostinho Neto University Hospital (HUAN), located in Praia, the capital of Cape Verde, on Tuesday received a set of medical and surgical equipment and materials from China for the in place of an acupuncture unit.
The president of the board of directors of the hospital, Imadoeno Cabral, welcomed the gesture of the Chinese side, stressing the bonds of friendship and solidarity that exist between Cape Verde and China.
According to him, they are “very important” instruments to improve the installed capacity of the hospital with a view to providing new services for ortho-traumatology, which receives patients from all over Sotavento on a daily basis, as well as for the maternity ward and the operating room.
Mr. Cabral also took the opportunity to announce that with this donation, the acupuncture unit will begin serving the public from Monday, August 30.
He said that the hospital had also received support from the Chinese side as part of the specialized mission and had exchanges of experiences between specialists from the two countries.
The head of the Chinese medical team in Cape Verde, Chen Yiding, spoke of the ties of cooperation and friendship between the two countries for 45 years, specifying that the equipment for ortho-traumatology, maternity and the block operations are intended to support Cape Verdean colleagues and to serve the population of the country.
