Each year, Aveyron Culture – Departmental Mission offers schools, in connection with cultural structures, artistic and cultural education courses promoting experimentation and artistic practice alongside professional artists.
In this context, the association Derrière Le Hublot offered workshops led by the artist photographer Kristof Guez during the residence of the Observatory of Capdenac.
This is how 5 classes, i.e. 100 students, from 3 establishments in Capdenac (4th from Voltaire College, 5th from Saint Louis College, CE1-CE2 class from Pierre Riols primary school) participated this week. , 2 hours of workshops. It was their second meeting for this journey lasting a total of 8 hours over the 2020-2021 school year with the artist. After discovering some of the photographer’s artistic works last December, the students this time took action by staging photographic diptychs in their establishment or in emblematic places of the city. The proposed creative principle was to take 2 photos in the same frame and the same setting, but to imagine two different situations or settings that could create a funny or strange shift from one photo to another. Ideas flared up among the students who thought about original staging, such as a fight scene with broomsticks in the Intermarché de Capdenac, a not very serious municipal council at the Town Hall of Capdenac or even appearances and disappearances at the windows of the Maison du Parc de Capèle.
Other photos will be taken during a next session in early April, then the last workshop will be devoted to the creation of a photo exhibition in schools. The works will also be available at the beginning of May on the Derrière Le Hublot website: www.derrierelehublot.fr/
We will soon come back to a new stage of the artistic journey project with the artist collective Tricyclique Dol, and the UCAC which will mark the installation of the first two artistic objects on the facades of shops.
