The dates of the 2024 edition of the event have been announced: from 19 to 22 September
Great public success and sold-out screenings for the 2023 edition of Capalbio Film Festival which took place from 14 to 17 September. Between cinema, art and environmental sustainability, a rich program of meetings, screenings with directors, screenwriters, authors and performers animated the town in the Tuscan Maremma for four days. The dates of the next edition have been announced, which will take place from 19 to 22 September 2024.
Among the many guests present Liliana Cavani with Claudia Gerini and Francesca Inaudi, Margherita Buy, Micaela Ramazzotti, Anna Foglietta, Lyda Patitucci, Niccolò Falsetti, Silvia D’Amico, Francesco Turbanti, Yile Yara Vianello, Andrea Bosca, Davide Livermore, Marzia Ubaldi, Davide Minnella, Francesco Scianna, Filippo Schicchitano, Giorgio Verdelli, Riccardo Rossi, Luca Ribuoli, Filippo de Carli and Francesco Russo. Among the screenwriters Paolo Costella, Federica Pontremoli, Alessandro Bardani, Maddalena Ravagli, Leonardo Fasoli, and again Roberto Cicutto, with Piera Detassis, Nicola Giuliano, Federica Lucisano, Carlo Degli Esposti, Carlo Alberto Pratesi, and many others.
For the Mayor of Capalbio Gianfranco Chelini: The public success recorded during the days of the festival makes us understand that the path taken is the right one and convinces us of the need to relaunch by following up both the cinema’s activity and the organization of the next festival. I congratulate the President of the Capalbio Foundation, Maria Concetta Monaci, and the Artistic Directors of the Festival Steve Della Casa and Daniele Orazi and the Scientific Director Carlo Alberto Pratesi for the passion and generosity with which they guaranteed the quality of the offer and orderly management of the works.
At the end of the Festival, Maria Concetta Monaci, President of the Capalbio Foundation, confirmed her great satisfaction with the success achieved. “on behalf of the Foundation – he declares – I thank all the actors who made the event possible; by the administration that embraced this project from the first hour; from artistic direction to organizational direction; from those who provided services, to sponsors; up to the community of Capalbio and the public who arrived specially, who participated in large numbers and were happy to meet their favorites. Gratitude goes to the great guests who have enthusiastically joined our initiative and have generously offered themselves with the aim of providing not only attraction and entertainment but also in-depth information on important current issues. With them – he underlined – in addition to the panel on sustainability, masterfully conducted by Carlo Alberto Pratesi, we were able to witness the female universe, that of young people, of the suburbs and stir consciences on highly topical issues. Personally, given the interest in contemporary art that I love to spread in the area, I will also remember the meeting with the President of the Venice Biennale Roberto Cicutto who surprised us by attending the award ceremony of a great excellence of our cinema”.
After the first pilot edition last year – say the Artistic Directors Steve Della Casa and Daniele Orazi – the interest that Capalbio had in an event dedicated to cinema was immediately evident. The great success and the surprising turnout of the public and guests present at the recently concluded edition confirmed the great curiosity and openness of the Capalbiesi to welcome this event. Thanks to the tireless President of the Capalbio Foundation, Maria Concetta Monaci, and the contagious energy of the visionary mayor Gianfranco Chelini, we are certain that the next 2024 edition, from 19 to 22 September, will once again surprise the entire cinema sector.
The Festival, promoted and organized by the Capalbio Foundation with the support of the Municipality of Capalbio and with the patronage of the Tuscany Region, had as its location the Cinema Tirreno of Borgo Carige for the screenings and meetings and the Galleria Il Frantoio of Capalbio which hosted the Landscape Experience exhibition. Connections between art and landscape by the artists Antonio Barbieri, Matteo Sanna and Vincenzo Marsiglia, the latter, creator and designer of the official image of the festival and responsible for the set-up of the Cinema Tirreno in Borgo Carige.
