Cantora Copas, Isabel Pantoja’s bar, has become a centre for young people. Between one image and another, 23 years have passed and a long business journey has seemed to find a definitive destination.
In 2001, Isabel Pantoja’s restaurant began to operate. However, four years later both Restaurante Cantora and the later opened Cantora Kopas had to close, and both establishments housed new businesses.
The longest-running of all was a Chinese buffet that closed last year, a closure that caused the establishment to become a refuge for squatters for a time.
However, the premises have a new lease of life ahead of them, as Cantora Kopas will now be a youth centre designed to take into account the proposals of young people, as explained by the Mayor of Fuengirola herself.
The project will cover an area of over 550 square metres and will include recreational spaces, a restaurant area and a stage for holding concerts. There will also be a gaming and robotics room, as well as another room for board games and for holding meetings.
The planned municipal investment is 1.7 million euros.
The story of Cantora Copas
On July 21, 2001, Isabel Pantoja arrived at the opening of the Cantora restaurant with the man who had made her dream come true, Diego Gómez.
Months ago, the singer, not content with her success as a singer, expressed to her boyfriend her desire to open a place and after 352 days of work, the opening finally took place at a time when the crowd loved her and she let herself be loved.
After a bath of masses, Pantoja posed with the entire restaurant team, but entered without speaking to the press, something that his great friends did. They talked so much, in fact, that Raúl Sénder let slip one of the best kept secrets of the menu.
The event was attended by her mother, Mrs. Ana, little Isa, a young Kiko Rivera and her brother Agustín Pantoja. It was exactly a year later when the singer decided to expand her business empire with Cantora Copas.
A facet of Isabel Pantoja’s business that is now behind us but which gave us unforgettable moments.
In recent weeks, Isabel Pantoja has been in the news after it was revealed that she was finalising the sale of her apartment in Seville, where Junco still lives.
