The Phönix Foundation, which looks after people with mental health problems in the canton of Schwyz, is building a new dormitory in Einsiedeln. The canton is to contribute 11.9 million francs to the construction, which cost 12.7 million francs. The government council applied to the cantonal council for a corresponding expenditure permit on Monday.
The Phönix Schwyz Foundation operates residential homes in Einsiedeln, Seewen and Buttikon and also offers outpatient services. In Einsiedeln, two existing older houses are to be replaced by a new building. The number of living spaces can thus be increased from 20 to 30.
A continuation of the operation in the buildings used today is not responsible in the medium term, said the State Chancellery. A connection solution is therefore needed.
Phönix carried out an architecture competition for the new building. The “Alp Sihl Biber” project by the Zurich architects Baumberger & Stegmeier is to be implemented. There will be a green area in front of the house that will not only be accessible to the residents of the home, but also to the population of Einsiedeln.
