In 2020, the Zug Government Council set the course with the “Digital Zug” program so that the digital transformation in administration could be advanced. Be it the digital signature or purely electronic correspondence, the motto of the program: “Make the future easier”
Three years after its launch, the “Digital Zug” competence center is to be expanded. “In recent years, a lot of basic work has been done, around 40 projects and plans initiated, designed and in some cases already completed, but a major change in administration has also been initiated,” explains manager Reto Joller to centralplus.
By winning the Digital Excellence Award 2021, “Digital Zug” received external recognition, which would have confirmed the path it had taken (zentralplus reported). Now the pending projects are to be implemented in reality. And that requires additional employees. Four employees and one external person are currently working in the competence center. Too little for what lies ahead.
That is why the Canton of Zug is investing up to CHF 980,000 in filling nine additional positions that are currently being advertised. The positions are temporary for the time being. “A decision will be taken as part of the regular budget process about whether the temporary positions will be continued,” writes Reto Joller.
