The Basel-Stadt cantonal police, together with the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security, carried out a joint major inspection at the Weil am Rhein motorway customs office on August 11, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In addition to our own forces, the control was supported by employees of the Basel-Landschaft police, the Baden-Württemberg state police, the German federal police and the Institute of Forensic Medicine Basel-Stadt.
At yesterday’s Street Parade, the main focus was on the driving ability of the drivers and the carrying of prohibited items.
A total of 85 vehicles and their occupants were checked. Due to suspicious behavior, 16 preliminary drug tests were carried out, of which 5 were positive. The ordered blood samples were taken on site by employees of the Institute of Forensic Medicine. Proceedings were initiated against the drivers concerned and their Swiss driving licenses were temporarily confiscated or revoked.
In addition, 5 fines were issued for various minor violations. Other findings included a violation of an entry ban, driving without insurance and a defect report for a defective windshield.
