What options do I have to pay my Infonavit credit?
In this sense, the agency reported that last year it received more than 82,000 requests for support given the unemployment problem in Quintana RooOf these, half were workers who were unemployed and with a current credit, for whom an extension of up to 24 months was provided to continue with the payment of the house.
The support scheme, for those who were left without their source of employment, was divided for those borrowers with an active credit, into two options to stabilize your credit situation and keep it up to date:
- the Unemployment Payment Protection Fund and
- Extension for loss of employment.
In the case of those who have already spent more than three months without being able to comply with the payments, the Infonavit gave the opportunity to request an extension of up to 24 months for job loss. This was the most popular program.
Another modality that was implemented was the Payment Protection Fund, with 15,278 workers, which applies to those who they can only cover a part of the monthly payment, since they have the option to use the resources of the fund to complete each payment.
“In order to apply it, it should be taken into account that the option is only applicable for credits granted after 2009 and that the benefit can only be requested once every five years.”
In Quintana Roo, about 97 thousand workers with a formal job lost their jobs in 2020 due to Covid-19, according to data from the Mexican Institute of Social Security.
