TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – An automotive startup from the United States, Canoo, has launched an electric car that will be used by NASA on its mission to the moon. NASA recently took delivery of three crew carrier vehicles for use on the Artemis II mission.
While Canoo’s electric van may look like a space exploration vehicle, NASA won’t be bringing all three of these vehicles to the moon. This electric van will only be used to transport astronauts to the rocket launch pad to go to the moon.
“This is a very proud day for Canoo and all of our partners who work so hard to ensure we do our part to transport astronauts the first nine miles of each launch,” said Canoo CEO Tony Aquila. Autoblog today, Sunday, July 16, 2023.
Canoo specifically designed the interior of the van to carry astronauts and flight support crew. The company says it will reveal more interior and exterior images of this electric van by the end of 2023, to coincide with the first civilian delivery of the Canoo EV.
Canoo itself has rented facilities in Oklahoma City earlier this year to develop and build these vehicles on a large scale. Canoo was rumored to be stopping production due to heavy losses.

The Canoo electric vehicle is also being trialled by the US Army for use as a light tactical vehicle. And, in the last year, Canoo also struck a deal with Walmart to supply its electric vehicles.
