Canon EOS R7 & EOS R10 – two new APS-C cameras

Canon continues to develop its new mirrorless R-system with more cameras – this time with APS-C format sensors that fit the newly developed RF-S lenses as the new lenses for Canon’s APS-C format are called.

According to Canon, the cameras will mix the advantages of the APS-C format in terms of speed, size and range of the focal length, which has a cropping factor of 1.6x compared to the full-frame RF system.

The two cameras have a lot in common, including 15 frames per second with continuous shutter, Dual Pixel CMOS AF II technology and possibilities for video in 4K and built-in 2.4 GHz wifi.

The electronic viewfinders have a resolution of 2.36 million pixels.

Canon EOS R7

The Canon EOS R7 is the continuation of the R-system that takes over where the Canon EOS 7D Mark II was last released. This will be a camera that is one step higher up in the middle class, with dual UHS-II card slots, newly developed control knob on the back and sensitivity on the autofocus down to -5 EV.

The resolution is 32.5 megapixels in the APS-C format. The camera has built-in 5-axis image stabilization that works together with lenses with built-in image stabilization, and can then provide up to 8 steps of compensation.

Video is played in 4K / 60p with the option of 4K / 30p oversampled from 7K, with the option of HDR PQ via HDMI. The EOS R7 also uses Canon Log 3 and Cinema Gamut for increased dynamic range.

The mechanical shutter provides 15 frames per second and up to 30 frames per second with electronic shutter.

The Canon EOS R7 weighs 612 grams including battery and memory card and has a weatherproof design.

Canon EOS R10

The EOS R10 is placed below the R7 in technology and picks up where the Canon EOS 70D / 80D and 90D left off. Here is a guided user interface with graphical image examples of how the settings affect the image.

The EOS R10 has a resolution of 24.2 megapixels in the APS-C format, has a built-in flash and angled screen.

Video is recorded in 4K / 60po in cropped mode and has the option of oversampled 4K video from 6K. The camera can take 15 frames per second with a mechanical shutter or 23 frames per second with an electronic shutter.

The EOS R10 can focus down to -4 EV. The weight of the R10 is 429 grams including battery and memory card.

Canon EOS R7 is available from the end of June 2022 at a recommended price of SEK 16,899 including VAT.
