The National Police have investigated the photos of pilots from Indonesia who have been arrested by Philippine authorities, Anton Gobay, with the Governor of Papua off Luke Enembe. However, the police admitted that they were reluctant to reveal the background of the photo and their relationship to the public.
“Earlier I answered that intelligence information cannot be disclosed to the public. But we have clearly informed the case,” said the Head of the Intermediary Division of the National Police, Inspector General Krishna Murti, at the Baharkam Field at the National Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, Thursday (9/2/2023).
Anton Gobay is known to be a pilot from Indonesia who has been arrested by the Philippines. Anton was arrested for possession of dozens of illegal firearms. Anton admitted that the weapon would be smuggled to Papua.
Lukas Enembe has now been arrested and detained by the KPK. The non-active governor of Papua was arrested for bribery and gratuities for infrastructure projects in Papua.
Photos of Anton Gobay and Lukas Enembe have circulated on social media. The police also admitted that they would investigate the background of Anton and Lukas’ relationship.
Krishna said the National Police investigation team had flown to the Philippines to examine Anton Gobay. The examination revealed a number of new findings.
“We already have a team going there to examine those concerned as well. There is already a team also communicating to local officials from the Philippine police to Philippine intelligence. The data that is certain is that the person concerned is unemployed,” explained Krishna.
“So, after pilot school, not yet working. But having enough money for people who don’t work to buy weapons with fantastic numbers,” he continued.
Krishna was reluctant to reveal the source of the funds. Anton Gobay was able to buy dozens of weapons even though he was not yet working. He again said that the findings were data that the National Police could not disclose to the public.
“Regarding where to send, confirm concerned will send it to Papua. Regarding where the funds come from, it is used as material for intelligence information which, if intelligence information is excluded, cannot be disclosed publicly,” explained Krishna.
Anton Gobay is also known to have attempted to smuggle weapons to Indonesia three times. However, these attempts were always thwarted.
“Not yet (weapons arrived in Indonesia). He made three attempts, all of them failed,” said Krishna.
