Visitors going to the Cannes festival in July must be able to provide proof of double vaccination or have a PCR test taken every two days to prove they are not infected with the coronavirus. The festival announced this on Thursday.
The prestigious film event was canceled in 2020 due to the corona pandemic. This year the festival can continue from 6 to 17 July. But strict measures will apply to visitors and guests. Visitors will be continuously checked on the site whether they have the correct papers.
In total, 18,000 people have already registered who will travel to the Cote d’Azur in the second week of July. One of the films that will in any case be screened in competition is the lesbian nun drama Benedetta by director Paul Verhoeven.
At the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam, employees and other visitors also had to be tested every 48 hours. However, a quick test was sufficient there.
