Military personnel of the Carabinieri Department Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Parkfollowing an investigation aimed at preventing and repressing landscape and environmental violations, have carried out Cannalonga in an area of particular environmental importance falling within the definitive perimeter of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park, the emergency preventive seizure of an area of approximately 3,300 square meters used as waste storage.
From the investigations carried out in the area it emerged that a company, which carries out construction activities and carries out excavation and earthmoving works, in the management of excavated earth and rocks had failed to adopt the procedures prescribed by the Consolidated Environmental Act and the Regulations governing the management of excavated earth and rocks. The seizure was carried out by order of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Lucania Valley in accordance with the investigative findings of the Department’s military personnel who noted the recent movement and removal of material from the storage site in the absence of the necessary authorisations. The aforementioned movement constitutes a illegal waste management consisting of soil and rocks mixed with topsoil in the absence of the required laboratory analyses (transfer test). Therefore, the person responsible was also reported to the Judicial Authority for unauthorized waste management activities. These checks, which will continue in synergy with the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Vallo della Lucania.
