Cannabis sales in the US increase slightly in December

shareribs.com – New York 08.02.2023 – Cannabis sales increased slightly in the US in December 2022. Overall, a volume of USD 1.68 billion is likely to have been reached in the eleven most important markets.

According to analysts from BDSA, sales of cannabis in the US rose 5.3 percent in December compared to the previous month. Strong development was recorded in the markets in the east of the USA in particular.

BDSA analysts reported sales of USD 206.6 million for Florida. Compared to November 2022, an increase of 5.3 percent, compared to the same month of the previous year, an increase of more than a quarter. So far, only medicinal cannabis has been approved in Florida.

Sales in the US state of Illinois were USD 175.3 million – up 10.5 percent compared to November and 1.1 percent more than at the end of 2021.

In Maryland, the medical cannabis market remained weak. Sales declined to $41.0 million, down 11.6 percent from the end of 2021, but compared to November, sales increased 7.7 percent.

Massachusetts reported sales of $154.5 million, up 8.2 percent from November. Compared to December 2021, however, sales fell by 2.2 percent.

Meanwhile, Michigan state sold $221.7 million, a third more than at the end of 2021 and nine percent more than November 2022.

In Pennsylvania, an increase of 9.8 percent to USD 102.4 million was recorded. Compared to December 2021, this also meant a minus of 5.1 percent.

Sales across the western states of the US were consistently down from December 2021. In Arizona, sales were $108.6 million, up 1.8 percent from November. Compared to the same month last year, however, this is a decline of 6.4 percent. Medicinal cannabis sales totaled $38.8 million.

In California, sales were $385.5 million, down 0.6 percent from November and 22.2 percent from the same month last year.

In Colorado, sales rose 10.1 percent to $143.5 million but were down 14.6 percent from the same month last year.

Sales in Nevada were up 60.8 percent, down 2.5 percent from November and 22.1 percent from the end of 2021.

For the state of Oregon, analysts at BDSA reported sales of $79.3 million, up 5.1 percent from November and down 10.4 percent from the end of 2021.
