Cangas delivers 10,000 euros to Adicam for its work in confinement and the pandemic

The mayor, Victoria Portas, with the president of Adicam, Olga Sotelo.

The Council of Cangas, through the mayor Victoria Portas, delivered to the Association of breast cancer diagnoses (Adicam) an economic aid of 10,000 euros for the work carried out during home confinement and also during this pandemic. From Adicam, which has already celebrated its 20th anniversary, they assure that they offered sus services and its professionals (social workers and psychologists) to the Council for what they need.

The major work was carried out in telephone counseling during home confinement, where several administrations contacted the association to refer cases that were not related to breast and gynecological cancer, and that required a psychologist for those difficult moments. Thanks to new technologies and social networks, Adicam was able to develop many of the campaigns and talks of its programming.

The municipal contribution, they point out in the association chaired by Olga Sotelo, will be used to maintain all the services that are currently offered by the group to patients and families, which are also free. This staff is made up of a psychologist, social worker, nutritionist, physiotherapist, legal advisor, job counselor, physical exercise and cognitive reinforcement monitors, hairdressers and aesthetics. “What the pandemic taught us is that you have to have the ability to adapt to be, in addition to being a resource for the community (breast cancer), to be a resource to be at the side of the community when circumstances require it,” they point out in Adicam.
