Canelo vs. Berlanga: Pre-fight weigh-in ceremony from Las Vegas | TUDN Boxeo

As is customary in boxing, the challenger on duty, Berlanga, was the first to take the stage amid boos and whistles from the majority of Mexican fans who gathered at the Toshiba Plaza in Las Vegas. Berlanga weighed 167.5 pounds on the scale.

Canelo, the division champion, then walked onto the stage to the jubilation of the fans who chanted his name non-stop. Saul Alvarez weighed slightly less than his rival, leaving the needle at 166.8 pounds.

“Tomorrow will be a war, I like all this, I was born for this, I belong to all this. Come on, Puerto Rico. Tomorrow we will make history. It is written. There is no other way than to win with a knockout and we will take the rematch to New York on Puerto Rico day,” said Berlanga after stepping on the scale.

“It means a lot to me and I have no choice but to repay them with a big win on Saturday. I’m sure he’ll be facing someone very different to what he’s used to,” Canelo said.

In this way, both fighters respected the division limit, that is, 168 pounds, to make official this Saturday night’s fight in which there will be three world titles at stake in Canelo’s possession: WBC, WBA and WBO.

It should be noted that a few weeks ago, Canelo stopped being the undisputed champion of the division by leaving the IBF world title vacant by not accepting the mandatory rival of said organization.
