Candra Wijaya reveals the chronology of the death of Markis Kido

The news of Markis Kido’s death was announced by PBSI via social media on Monday (14/6/2021) night WIB. So far, the cause of the 36-year-old man’s death has not been determined, but it is suspected that it was due to a heart problem.

Secretary to the Minister of Youth and Sports (Sesmenpora) Gatot S Dewa Broto said Markis fell while playing badminton. This was confirmed by a fellow Indonesian badminton legend, Candra Wijaya, who happened to be playing badminton with Kido at Petrolin GOR, Alam Sutera, Tangerang.

According to Candra, Kido is actually in good condition when playing. However, when he was about to move to the field, Kido suddenly fell unconscious and made his colleagues immediately approach, including Candra.

Candra and friends were already able to do first aid while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. Unfortunately destiny said otherwise, when Kido was rushed to Omni Alam Sutera Hospital, he was no longer alive.

“Yes, first of all I was very surprised and panicked. I was on the field,” said Candra Wijaya in the video to detikSport.

“Incidentally, I met or used to play every Monday at Petrolin GOR, Tangerang. Actually, it was very relaxed, relaxed, not too heavy to play. Kido is just normal, just normal, playing on the field is not so heavy, a little joking. Kido has only played 1/ 2 sets, when I changed places 15-8, suddenly I saw that I had fallen abnormally forward. I then sat down and other friends helped. Pumped his heart, gave him water. We tried to get first aid, immediately took him to Omni,” he continued.

“Maybe it’s God’s will, until here, the doctor and a friend brought him first, God called Kido right away. He’s released. It’s around 6.30 or 6.40, about 15-20 minutes so far,” he continued.

“I’m sorry to be born and inner heart to the family, I have done my best to help him. Maybe that’s all I can say.”
