Two candlelight concerts with the participation of Ukrainian artists will be held at the Lviv Philharmonic for Kvitka Tsysyk’s birthday.
Ukrinform was informed about this by the press service of the Lviv National Philharmonic named after Myroslava Skoryk.
“Kvitka Tsysyk, whose name became a symbol of Ukrainian musical culture, brought the world songs that won the hearts of millions. Her work combined the beauty of the Ukrainian language with unsurpassed melodies that became unforgettable for many. On April 7, the Lviv National Philharmonic will host a special musical evening – a candlelight concert for the birthday of the outstanding Ukrainian singer Kvitka Tsysyk,” the philharmonic said in a statement.
The concerts will feature the most famous compositions from the singer’s repertoire, such as “Cheremshina”, “Where are you now”, “Beloved”, “I will go to the distant mountains” and others performed by Ukrainian artists: Oksana Karaim, Iryna Doli, Petro Radeyka and Olga Verholyak . They will perform accompanied by famous virtuosos of instrumental music – the “High Castle” ensemble.

Two candlelight concerts are scheduled for April 7 at the Lviv Philharmonic – at 3:00 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m.
Kvitka Tsysyk is an American singer of Ukrainian origin, a popular performer of advertising jingles in the USA, an opera and blues singer, a performer of Ukrainian folk and popular songs. The song You Light Up My Life, which she performed for the film of the same name, won the 1978 Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Original Song, and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Song of the Year. Ukrainian Kvitka Tsysyk was born and lived all her life in the USA. Her father was a Lviv violinist, grandmother, grandfather, and mother lived in Lviv until 1944. Fleeing from the occupation and the Soviet government, in 1949 they ended up in the USA. Today, April 4, Kvitka Tsysyk would have turned 71 years old, but she lived only 44 years due to oncology.

As reported by Ukrinform, in March 2021, the American singer of Ukrainian origin Kvitka Tsysyk became a posthumous laureate of the Mykola Lysenko International Literary and Art Prize “Rhapsody” – for outstanding contribution to Ukrainian and world art.
