The candidate Eric Adams affirmed that it does seem important to him that these people have the right to vote in local elections, but he clarified that it will be the legislators who make a decision on this issue. Meanwhile, Curtis Sliwa said he did not agree with this initiative and made it clear that “he would maintain the current policy”, since he considers that this is “a privilege only for US citizens.”
