Candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. declines to support Trump

Phoenix. Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., scion of America’s most famous political clan, announced Friday that he was “suspending” his campaign for the presidency and called for votes for Republican Donald Trump in a dozen key states.

“I no longer believe that I have a realistic path to electoral victory,” Kennedy said during a speech in Arizona (south), but he asked his supporters to vote for him in the rest of the states where his name will remain on the ballot.

Kennedy, 70, condemned the choice of Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee without going through a primary and cited a long list of grievances against his former party that he said had led him to “support President Trump.”

The candidate also mentioned several strange stories, such as that he suffers from a parasitic worm in his brain and that he dumped a dead bear cub in Central Park in New York.

His family turns their back on him.

“Our brother Bobby’s decision to support Trump today is a betrayal of the values our father and family hold most dear,” his sister, Kerry Kennedy, a human rights activist, said in X.

“It’s a sad ending to a sad story,” he added.

Kennedy’s campaign suspension came a day after Harris closed the Democratic convention that inaugurated her with a speech in which she called for leaving behind “the bitterness, cynicism and divisive battles of the past” to embrace “a new path,” 10 weeks before the election.
