Red-Green has had the majority in Bern for 27 years, and for eight years the Left has even held four out of five seats in the city government. All civil attempts to bring a little more political balance to the executive branch of the federal city failed miserably. Its last representative is center man Reto Nause, who has just been elected to the National Council and will resign from his position in the city government at the end of 2024.
