Swedish fitness influencer Elin Kjos (34) two years ago he received the disheartening news that he had incurable cancer. Doctors found a tumor over 20 centimeters in his right lung and eventually reached the point where they could no longer offer treatment.
Elin, cancer patient (34): – Go to Germany
Despite Kjos reported in January that the tumor had no longer grown, the counter-notification came quickly. In April he learned about it the cancer had spread to the skeleton.
Like the Norwegians Shabana Rehman (46) Kjos sought treatment outside his home country and recently traveled to Germany. He tells Dagbladet that she has been there for three weeks and has been testing “alternative treatments”.
Make the most of it
– It is not a medical treatment that I have received at the Karolinska Institute in recent years. Arcadia Praxis (the treatment center in Germany, ed) works a lot with detoxification, nutrition, supplements, hypothermia and anti-inflammatories. The goal is to try to help the body heal itself.
In other words, the treatment Kjos sought in Germany is an alternative.
According to NHI hyperthermia may be useful to enhance the effect of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. It consists in artificially increasing the temperature in the tumor tissue.
The cancer society writes that more patients are choosing alternative treatment, but preferably in addition to traditional treatment. They claim their experience is that services that emphasize relaxation, well-being, and a healthy diet can improve patients’ quality of life.
Elin, cancer patient: – I got pregnant
It is sad for her that Sweden cannot offer more treatment.
– Of course, it seems difficult and it is clear that it is more difficult to have to find the next step on your own. But now that’s the way it is and I just have to make the best of the situation.
– I hope to live many more years
Kjos makes no secret of the fact that thinking about the worst possible outcome has nothing to do with this. Go out of your way to stay motivated and positive in these difficult times.
Elin, cancer patient: – Fantastic
– I take one day at a time as usual and try to focus on what’s good. It just creates anxiety to think about what might be happening or that I have no cure right now, she tells Dagbladet.
– How do you see the future?
– I will always be confident and hope to live for many more years. I love life and I know that I will continue to do what I can to see opportunities and find new ways to follow, concludes Kjos.
