Among many types of cancer, breast cancer ranks first in terms of the highest number of cancers in Indonesia and is one of the first to blame for cancer deaths.
According to Globocan data in 2020, the number of new breast cancer cases reached 68,858 cases (16.6%) of the 396,914 total new cancer cases in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the death toll has reached over 22,000.
“So, the highest cancer in Indonesia so far is still breast cancer. So for women, cervical cancer is still high,” Soeko said.
Furthermore, the number of cases of lung cancer, colorectal (colon) cancer and prostate cancer is also quite high.
Also present on the occasion the President Director of Roche Indonesia, Dr. Ait-Allah Mejri said that the reasons for the increase in cancer cases in Indonesia were many factors. Like the growing number of elderly people and the changes in people’s lifestyles. Smoking is also a risk factor for cancer.
