(Relaxnews) – Organizers of the Detroit Auto Show, scheduled for June, have officially canceled the event. The exhibition center where it was to be held was mobilized by the governor of Michigan to change into a medical center for patients with the coronavirus.
After Geneva, New York and even Paris (a show planned for October which will change its formula), it is the turn of the North American International Auto Show, alias the Detroit Motor Show, to suffer a cancellation in the context of the current pandemic.
Instead of housing the prototypes and automotive technologies of the future, the TCF Center was requisitioned by Governor Gretchen Whitmer, the State of Michigan, and the Federal Emergency Situations Agency (FEMA) to become a facility care for the duration of the health crisis.
As in many cities around the world, hospitals in Detroit are facing a massive influx of Covid-19 cases.
The motor show having been canceled and not postponed, the organizers are already working on the 2021 edition.
