The first thing we must do is enter the Registry Editor and the most practical way to do it is to press the key combination. “Windows + R”. Another form of access is type “Regedit” in the search box.

In the window that appears we must locate the route “HKEYLOCALMACHINE SOFTWARE Policies Microsoft Windows WindowsUpdate”. Once located, we click with the right mouse button on “WindowsUpdate” and we look in the drop-down menu for the section “New> DWORD Value (32 bit)”.

We give it the name “TargetReleaseVersion” (without quotes) and we give the value “1” (without the quotes).

Again we right click on “WindowsUpdate” and and we seek “New> String value”where we choose as name “TargetReleaseVersionInfo” (without the quotes). In this case we must add the value of the version of Windows 10 that we want to keep as a value, for which we only have to click on the new field created with the right mouse button and use the “Modify” option.

If for example we are in Windows 10 1909 (November 2019 Update) and we do not want to go to Windows 10 2004 (May 2020 Update), we must give it the value “1909” (if the quotes). At that point we only have to close the “Registry Editor”.

In this way and thanks to the changes in the Registry Editor, Windows 10 updates will be paused.
