Canary Islands begins to vaccinate people over 80 years old | Radio Club Tenerife

The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands confirms, to Radio Club Tenerife of Cadena SER, the start of vaccination for people over 80 years of age who are not in residences. It is about 70,073 people who will benefit from the planned doses, and whose process is already being carried out in “some islands outside the capital,” according to health sources.

The department headed by Blas Trujillo, already has the list of beneficiaries and it will be the health centers, those in charge of calling the so-called Group 5 of the Vaccination Strategy against Covid19 in the Canary Islands.

New vaccines from Pfizer

The Canary Islands have received on the morning of this Monday, February 15, a new shipment of 17,550 doses of Pfizer’s vaccine against the coronavirus.

This has been reported by the Ministry of Health, which adds that with this batch of vaccines the continuity of the vaccination schedule established in the archipelago is guaranteed.

The Canary Islands currently have – according to the latest data from Sunday – an accumulated of 38,440 cases of Coronavirus, of which 561 have died, 31,027 have recovered and 6,852 are active cases.

Regarding active patients, 83 remain in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 292 are admitted to the hospital ward and 6,477 are in a situation of home isolation.
