Canarian Television will be broadcast this Friday August 9th from the 22:00 hours the Proclamation of the Festivities in honour of Our Lady of Candelaria on the island of Tenerife, which will take place in the surroundings of the Basilica of Candelaria.
An event that will be presented by Patricia Santana and that will mark the beginning of the religious and cultural celebrations in honour of the Patron Saint of the Canary Islands that will extend throughout the month of August, specifically until the 18th.
The event will feature the special participation of Casimiro CurbeloPresident of the Island Council of La Gomera, Who will give the opening speech?to then give way to the musical opening by the Choirs and Dances of La Gomera.
One of the highlights of this edition will be the World premiere of “Chaxiraxi”, an opera in two acts with libretto by Benito Cabrera and music by Emilio CoelloThe work will be performed by the Contemporary Orchestra and Choir of Tenerife, under the direction of Emilio Coello and with stage direction by Gerardo Fuentes. The cast of singers includes Candelaria González, Jorge Cordero, Anatael Herrera, David Barrera, Augusto Brito, Andrés Campovari, Alberto Feria and Ernesto Rodríguez Abad.
After the opening speech, these festivities will begin, which every year unite the rich traditions and culture of Candelaria, and which expect the arrival of thousands of pilgrims.
