“When I have a goal, I work very hard until I can achieve it.” This is how he introduced himself Charlotte Harrison to the Miss International Spain pageant, which took place on Tuesday and in which she was proclaimed, emotionally and in tears, the winner among 17 participants, one from each Autonomous Community. The first maid of honour is Alba Pérez, representing Andalusia, and Valentina Moreno, from the Community of Madrid, was named as the second maid of honour.

At 23 years old and 1.80 metres tall, the Tenerife native was declared the winner at a gala held in Guía de Isora, Canary Islands. After a week of concentration in Tenerife, the beauty queens enjoyed an evening that included a performance by Rosa López, winner of the Operation Triumph 2001The contest was directed by the Nuestra Belleza España organization, led by Cres del Olmo, national director of the Miss International brand. Its motto, “Cheer All Women,” promotes support for women around the world in their causes and struggles.

Harrison currently works in the hospitality industry and has studied a higher degree in tourism. She is a content creator on her social networks and a model, plays volleyball and defines her birth island as “magical”. The fact that the event was in Tenerife “was very special for me because my colleagues were able to see the capital of my municipality, and I hope they can take our Canarian essence to every part of Spain as a souvenir,” she says. The candidate defines herself with these three words: humanitarian, humble and persevering. Right now she is in a grieving process, since last November she lost her mother to cancer.

On November 12, the Canary Islander will be in Tokyo, Japan, competing with representatives from around the world to win the crown of Miss International. It has been 64 years since the first Miss International Pageant in Long Beach, being one of the oldest and most important female beauty pageants in the world. Throughout history, several well-known faces have represented Spain, such as Tita Cervera, who came second in 1961; Vanesa Romero in 1998 or Julianna Ro a couple of years ago.
