How to protect yourself from hackers?
Next, the operator gives tips on how to protect yourself from potential attacks.
– Do not use the same passwords and logins that you use in other applications, online stores, websites / VOD, forums or internet portals (in the case of e.g. data leakage from an online store, an unauthorized person may gain access to your account on another website internet, to which you log in with the same login and password); change your passwords regularly and do not share them with anyone. A strong password is a complex password (the password should contain a minimum of 8 characters, including special characters, numbers, uppercase and lowercase letters); do not provide personal data on untrusted or unknown websites; ignore emails asking for authentication or login details; scan the computer or other device from which you log into Canal + Online with an antivirus program; secure your computer or other device, incl. by regularly downloading and installing updates; do not use links that you are not sure that come from Canal + Polska; do not go to suspicious and unknown websites – pay attention to the URLs of the pages you visit. These sites can infect your devices with malware, advises Canal +.
This is the second warning for Canal + customers
A similar warning via e-mail was received by Canal + subscribers in September last year. Why are they sent out? Do customers share their accounts unknowingly and are they used for piracy? – We simply regularly conduct this type of educational activities aimed at subscribers – says Wirtualnemedia.pl Piotr Kaniowski, spokesman for Canal +. He did not reveal what the attempts of the hacker attacks were all about.
Streaming accounts can be used not only to illegally offer Canal + stations, but also to obtain customers’ personal data, such as e-mails or telephone numbers. All Canal + stations on the Canal + online streaming service are accompanied by the word “online” next to the logo. Canal + stations on pirate streaming lists are not accompanied by this entry, which means that hackers get a signal from the satellite.
Quarterly revenues of Canal + Group in the first quarter of this year. increased by 6.5 percent. to EUR 1.446 billion (organic growth was 6%). In France, where the broadcaster also has several channels available for free, revenues rose 6.5%. up to EUR 788 million.
